Philadelphia Still Recovering from a Violent Weekend

Philadelphia police are currently investigating a series of shooting that occurred this past weekend. The shootings left two dead and three others critically injured.

Police were called to the 3100 block of North 7th and Clearfield Streets where a 19-year-old man was shot once in the arm. The shooting occurred around 11p.m. Saturday, April 13.

The victim was standing on the corner with another young man where an unidentified suspect began shooting. He was transported by private vehicle to Temple University Hospital in stable condition. According to police, the male he was with was unharmed.

A 37-year-old man was standing on a different corner at the same intersection when he was also shot. He was transported to Temple University Hospital with a gun shot wound in the groin area.

The third victim of this weekend’s violence suffered a graze wound. The 42-year-old victim was hit when a bullet traveled through a wood panel, hitting the glass according to CBS Local.

Philadelphia police are also investigating two homicides.

A 24-year-old man was found dead inside a blue GMC Yukon with a gun shot wound to the head. Police were called to the scene after 2:30 p.m. outside of VIP nightclub.

Another deadly shooting occurred around the same time on the 4700 block of Penn Street. An unidentified 31-year-old male was found with a gun shot would in his left side and transported to Einstein Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made in either shooting.
